With the help of the Democratic Party, socialism in America is growing stronger by the day.
Tuesday night marked a historical upset in New York’s 14th district primary race — as 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley lost to 28-year-old “democratic socialist” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
President Trump took to Twitter to poke fun at Crowley, who has been one of his most outgoing critics in Congress.
Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!

As funny as Trump’s tweet is, the major upset points to a serious issue: the Democratic Party is shifting further and further to the left.
Cortez ran a successful grassroots campaign focusing on socialist “progressive” issues such as universal health care, federal job guarantees, and the abolition of ICE.

Using their names, I told them exactly what they are responsible for.
One of them made eye contact with me.
I spoke directly to him.
I saw his sense of guilt.

On the other hand, Crowley had not been challenged for his seat in 14 years, a likely factor in what many saw as a poor campaign riddled with mishaps like his no-show at a scheduled debate with Cortez.
If elected to the House of Representatives to represent the 14th district, Cortez would be the youngest person in Congress and the youngest elected women in history.
Perhaps the most worrisome part of this all is that Crowley, despite losing to someone who falls left of his political philosophy, has been considered one of Washington’s most progressive congressman. In fact, he was the first member of the House Democratic leadership to support Medicaid for all.
If universal health care isn’t progressive enough for the left in 2018, then what will they want in the future?
