Democrats Slam DNC Chair For His Allegedly Crappy Fundraising

Some members of the Democratic National Committee are growing more and more fed up with their leader's performance.

DNC Chairman Tom Perez's seeming inability to raise money -- and enthusiasm -- for his party have been documented by The Hill, and the results are not pretty.

The interviews covered high-level Democratic leaders criticizing the fundraising efforts of the DNC chairman, along with the likes of high profile policy makers, such as Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill).

“There’s a lot of room for improvement,” the Chicago-based lawmaker said when asked about Perez's performance.

"Part of the problem is that when you’re a parachutist into the party [and] you didn’t work yourself up the party chain and in the trenches, I think you’re going to have problems, especially with [what] is still a very divisive and contested match," Gutierrez added, referencing the apparent fracturing of the DNC, as some Democrats see Perez as an establishment pick who is not connected with the base of the party.

One top DNC bundler also criticized Perez for not reaching out to top donors, saying, “I’ve never heard from him. Not once. If you want to show strength, you personally reach out to all the big fundraisers.”

The DNC has struggled to raise just $3.8 million in July, compared to $10.2 million raised by the Republican National Committee. On top of that, the DNC has also accrued about $154,000 worth of debt, bringing their total debt load to $3.4 million.

Perhaps Tom Perez needs to figure out a new strategy to fix his faulty fundraising abilities, instead of simply running around cursing like a sailoraccusing the Trump administration of a "pattern of anti-Semistim" and spouting about how pro-life Democrats aren't welcome in his party.

Nice try, Perez.

Maybe he'll learn to actually reach out to his donors and truly unite his party's base, instead of making poorly executed attacks on the Trump administration for cash. But given the abysmal numbers and that he's produced in the past year, that's probably unlikely.
