During a Twitter rant over the holiday weekend, Alyssa Milano asked to meet with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to discuss gun control and told him she wanted to livestream the meeting “so the American people can hear your bullshit 1st hand.”
Now that Milano has a date to meet Cruz, her Twitter tone seems a little more subdued.
Late Wednesday night she tweeted,”I’ll be meeting with @tedcruz on Tuesday about guns. We don’t agree on this issue. But if we can talk with mutual respect & humility, maybe all of us come together to effect positive change. I will enter this with an open heart, ears and mind. I hope he does the same.”
With the date fast approaching, she seems to be adopting some of the civility Cruz put forth on Sept. 2nd when he accepted her offer.
“If we can have a civil & positive conversation—in the spirit of 1 Peter 4:8 as you suggest—despite our political differences, that might help resolve the discord in our Nation,” Cruz tweeted.
The Twitterverse will soon see if actress-turned-activist Milano can hold up her end of the bargain. If she can come across as both civil and open-minded, it may be the greatest acting performance of her career.
