Earlier today, the Supreme Court ruled 5-3 on Whole Women's Health v. Hellerstedt, which struck down a Texas law requiring abortion clinics to have the same medical standards as other surgical centers.

Many commentators have called it one of the biggest decisions in decades made by the SCOTUS regarding abortion in the United States.

Reactions to the decision have come hard and fast from both the left and right.

Apparently though, President Obama wasn't the only one "pleased" with the outcome.

Comedy Central's "Daily Show" responded to the decision by tweeting from their official Twitter account this afternoon "Celebrate the #SCOTUS ruling! Go knock someone up in Texas!"

While the tweet still stands, whoever manages their Twitter account must have felt the backlash.

The "Daily Show" account posted a follow-up message over an hour after the original tweet, declaring: "Friends, we’re certainly not promoting abortions. Just excited about #SCOTUS reaffirming right to choose."
