Remember the cyclist that was fired from her job after a photo went viral of her giving President Trump’s motorcade the middle finger in 2017? Last night, she won an election in Virginia.

With over 54 percent of the vote, Juli Briskman (D) won against incumbent Suzanne Volpe (R) to represent Loudoun County’s Algonkian District.

Briskman had announced her run for a seat on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors in Northern Virginia back in September 2018. She said that she made the decision to run, “in part, because I feel I can more successfully effect change by serving in local government than by fighting an uphill battle in unfriendly courts.”

Briskman argued that her termination from her marketing and communications job at government contractor Akima LLC was “wrongful” and “a clear violation of my First Amendment Rights under the Virginia Public Policy.”

After the photo of her giving the President’s motorcade the bird went viral, she was fired from her job with Akima LLC. The company described her gesture as “lewd” and “obscene.”

In November 2017 over $142,000 were raised on GoFundMe to “thank” her for serving as an “inspiration to us all.”

She stated in her campaign website that she sought to "[root] out Trump supporters at the local level."
