Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) at CPAC on Thursday offered advice to young conservatives under attack at liberal universities.

He called on them to “speak the truth,” because he knows one thing for certain: “Freedom works.”

“Let me say to all of the young people, speak the truth. Spread the fire of liberty. What young person in any sense wants to live with big government, with Washington controlling everything about you,” said Cruz.

“What we’re about is liberty,” he continued. “We think you should have the right to decide. We think you should be able to choose what school you go to. You should be able to choose what doctor you have. The internet should be free. No taxes. No regulations. You should speak.”

“That is a message that resonates with young people. Freedom works,” said Cruz, drawing a standing ovation from the crowd.
