Cruz Plays April Fools' Joke Involving Trump

Nick Kangadis | April 1, 2016

Apparently, April Fools’ Day jokes are not limited coworkers and friends.

Republican presidential candidate Texas Sen. Ted Cruz posted a message on Facebook announcing that fellow candidate Donald Trump had accepted his challenge to a one-on-one debate.

The post looked official enough, so people have been clicking on the link. By people, I mean yours truly.

The video begins with Cruz talking during a campaign rally in Des Moines, IA where he challenged Trump to a debate.

The video then shows Trump talking about how he won “every single debate.”

However, as soon as the video showed Trump making the comment, “We’re going to go on forever with these debates,” Cruz got the last laugh.

Cruz “Rickrolled” Facebook.

(In case you don't know, “Rickrolling” is an Internet prank that involves an individual being lured into watching a seemingly normal video only for the video to be replaced with Rick Astley’s 1987 one-hit wonder, “Never Gonna Give You Up.”)

Well played, Cruz… well played.
