GOP presidential candidates Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) went head to head during the Republican presidential debate in North Charleston, S.C,. Thursday night over Trump’s attacks on Cruz’s eligibility for the presidency.

“If you become the nominee, who the hell knows if you can even serve in office?” Trump fired at Cruz.

“He never had a chance. Now he’s doing better. He’s got probably a four- or five-percent chance,” he continued, referring to Cruz’s rise in recent polls.

“The fact is there’s a big question mark on your head, and you can’t do that to the party,” Trump argued. “You have to have certainty.”

“I’m not bringing a suit. I promise,” he went on. “But the Democrats are going to bring a lawsuit.”

“Well listen, I’ve spent my entire life defending the Constitution,” Cruz replied. “I’m not going to take legal advice from Donald Trump.”

Cruz went on to say that there are no hard feelings, and joked that he will invite Trump to be vice president when he wins the Republican nomination.
