“She is home,” Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Monday, after an Israeli soldier was rescued from Hamas terrorists in Gaza and returned home.

“She is home. PVT Megidish was abducted by Hamas on October 7. Tonight, she was rescued during ground operations. Ori is now home with her family,” IDF reported in a social media post.

Pvt. Megidish was rescued during an overnight operation, as part of IDF’s ground assault aiming to wipe out Hamas terrorists. She is reportedly in good health.

“Megidish was believed to have been held alone, though other members of her unit were captured by Hamas in the October 7 onslaught,” The Times of Israel reports. Despite resistance by Hamas, no members of the Israeli security forces were reported to have been injured.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called the successful rescue “further proof” that IDF’s ground operation is necessary.
