Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) thanked the Republican National Committee (RNC) for posting video from her speech praising the college anti-Israel protesters causing chaos and threatening Jewish students on Monday.
As anti-Israel protests and encampments – some violent – raged at prestigious U.S. universities, prompting Jewish students to flee their campuses, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez took the opportunity to applaud the protesters:
"It is especially important that we remember the power of young people shaping this country today, of all days, as we once again witness the leadership of those peaceful, student-led protests on campuses like Columbia, Yale, Berkeley and many others."
In reality, however, the protests at “campuses like Columbia, Yale, Berkeley and many others” have been all but peaceful, prompting arrests and threatening Jewish students:
- At Columbia last Thursday, more than a hundred anti-Israel protesters were arrested – including the daughter of Democrat Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
- Jewish students at Columbia have become so unsafe that the university’s Orthodox rabbi urged them to leave the campus and the school has replaced in-person classes with virtual lessons for the remainder of the semester.
- Dozens of violent protesters were arrested at Yale on Monday.
- At UC Berkeley, pro-Palestinian protesters have set up tents and are calling for a financial boycott of Israel and demanding Israel end efforts to eliminate Hamas, the terrorist group that attacked it.
- More than 130 students and faculty arrested at NYU Monday, some of whom assaulted police.
- USC was forced to cancel all planned commencement speakers.
- The gates to Harvard Yard were closed to the public.
Thank you RNC!
