In a letter sent Wednesday, Media Research Center Founder and President L. Brent Bozell III commended House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) for his superb leadership resulting in the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
After a vote failed last week, Speaker Johnson rallied Republicans to vote to impeach Mayorkas for failing to secure America’s borders and making false statements to both Congress and the American people.
In his letter, Bozell praises Johnson for his strength and masterful leadership in gaining the support of Republicans who had previously derailed the effort to impeach Mayorkas.
“You achieved what previous Speakers have failed to do, in persuading the great bulk of the Conference to stand behind this,” Bozell writes, noting that “It is this kind of leadership that will save our country.”

Initially, you faced a Conference that was not united. In addition to the three members who voted against it, I know that you had a challenge with others ahead of the vote, who may have been from swing districts or are not known for being courageous.
You achieved what previous Speakers have failed to do, in persuading the great bulk of the Conference to stand behind this. It showed real strength and leadership of purpose.
This is an example of why I have long admired you. It is this kind of leadership that will save our country.
