Columbia College in Chicago is hosting a free lecture on “whiteness in decline” in America as part of a larger series on “The ‘Forgotten Man’ in the Trump Era.”

As first reported by the College Fix, the seminar “will examine the topic of ‘whiteness in decline’ and look at how whites’ current social position has led to a ‘resurgence of white supremacy.’”

According to the online description for the event on Columbia College’s website, the seminar, led by professor of comparative race and ethnicity studies Paula Ioanide, will focus on how white Americans feel they’ve lost some of their innate social privileges and are now responding with “white nationalism.”

“Paula Ioanide (Ithaca College) examines imagined and real losses in entitlements white Americans have come to expect and the ways these connect to the resurgence of white nationalism. Ioanide argues that the reactionary emotional politics of white nationalism indicate both the precarious structure of white domination and the effectiveness of racial justice movements,” the event description reads.

This talk is offered as part of the series "Critical Issues in Cultural Studies: The 'Forgotten Man' in the Trump Era," the college adds.

Because nothing heals perceived racial divides quite like a lecture on why white people suck.
