Colin Kaepernick: I Can Still Play At An Elite Level

Colin Kaepernick still believes that he’s an elite quarterback capable of playing in the NFL. No, seriously - he’s that delusional.

Sports Illustrated just published an article in which staff writer Gilberto Manzano interviewed the social justice warrior, with one of the topics of discussion centering around why Kaepernick has only received one official NFL workout since 2017 and hasn’t been on an NFL roster in six years.

Kaepernick did have a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders last year, in which scouts with the team were impressed - but not enough to sign him.

“I’ve heard a lot of excuses over the years,” Kaepernick said on why teams don’t sign him, “but most of the time it ends up, ‘Oh, we’re going to see how the guys that we have do.’ With the Raiders’ situation last year, that was (Jarrett) Stidham and Nick Mullens, which to me, you just compare résumés and capabilities, on top of the workout and the feedback, it’s like, ‘O.K., cool.’”

“Obviously, there’s something else within this decision,” he continued. “Judge me based upon (my play), not the political bias that you have.”

So Kaep seems to think that the Raiders had a political bias against him. Or, maybe they didn’t want to risk giving a spot to a 34-year-old who hadn’t been in the league for five years over a proven backup who had been within the organization already. That seems like a more plausible answer, regardless of how “impressive” the workout was.

Manzano also seemed to indicate that because the Raiders workout was his first since Kaepernick left the league, that meant the NFL hadn’t done anything to reach out to him in that time frame.

That actually isn’t true.

In 2019, the NFL offered to get scouts from all 32 teams to watch him host a workout in the Atlanta Falcons practice facility; it was the break he had long wanted. However, on the morning of the workout, he decided not to go to the facility and changed the location to a nearby high school, all because he wanted more fans to see and so his film crew could be there.

So the league has made efforts to bring him back, but when he decided to pull this stunt, the NFL has understandably not been anxious to help him out. As the saying goes, “Once burned, twice shy.”

Oh, and he did compare the NFL Draft process to a slave auction. I'll let that speak for itself.

Kaepernick might still be able to impress a few people at a workout. But given how he tarnished his reputation with the league and his social justice shenanigans off the field, it’s no wonder why he isn’t playing on Sundays.
