The Women's March was under fire Tuesday after tweeting out a "happy birthday" message to a convicted cop killer.
And, perhaps surprising many of their critics, CNN's Jake Tapper actually joined the Twitter mob in condemning the ridiculous tweet.
Shakur is a cop-killer fugitive in Cuba. This, ugly sentiments from @lsarsour & @dykemarchchi ...Any progressives out there condemning this? https://t.co/rXnHLgE2hR
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 18, 2017
Then Women's March organizer and Sharia law advocate, Linda Sarsour, got involved, actually calling Tapper a member of the "alt-right."
.@jaketapper joins the ranks of the alt-right to target me online. Welcome to the party.
— Linda Sarsour (@lsarsour) July 18, 2017
Calling Tapper, who is often accused of being a leftist by Trump-supporters, "alt-right" is laughable. But Sarsour has called Ben Shapiro, the outspoken Jewish Never-Trumper, "alt-right," so maybe she just doesn't know what the term means.
Nevertheless, she persisted:
.@jaketapper please share my "ugly" sentiments? Unapologetically Muslim? Unapologetically Palestinian? Pro-immigrant? Pro-justice? Shame.
— Linda Sarsour (@lsarsour) July 18, 2017
To which Tapper responded:
Your comment about @Ayaan for one.
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 18, 2017
Oof. Tapper is referring to Sarsour's tweets about former-Muslim and outspoken Sharia law critic Ayaan Hirsi Ali in 2011, in which the Women's March organizer actually mocked Hirsi Ali for being a victim of female genital mutilation (FGM).
When others come to Sarsour's aid, Tapper continued to throw down:
You are in good company with Bill O'Reilly lacking the context understand this.
— William Schwartz (@2William) July 18, 2017
You're confusing disagreeing and disapproving with lacking the context.
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 18, 2017
Along with:
I'd love for @jaketapper to ask more questions and make less assumptions.
— Alicia Garza (@aliciagarza) July 18, 2017
These tweets about supporting a "cop killer" are intentionally inflammatory
— Alicia Garza (@aliciagarza) July 18, 2017
How about being part of a gang that kills a NJ State Trooper? Is that considered inflammatory?
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 18, 2017
Boom. Roasted.
