CNN's Cuomo Got Super Defensive With a Senator About 'Fake News'

3.3k views

Maybe the whole “fake news” thing would end if news organizations quit sensationalizing stories and just reported, you know, actual news.

Despite the Project Veritas videos that were released this week, CNN’s Chris Cuomo got a little sensitive during an interview on Wednesday with Republican Sen. Ron Johnson.

According to Breitbart:

Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day,” while discussing the Senate GOP’s heath care bill with Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), an opponent of the bill, host Chris Cuomo decried the “fake thing” when Johnson said that numbers being used to attack the Republican effort were “incorrect.”

Johnson followed up by saying, “We need information, and the debate on this thing has been completely distorted using incorrect information.”

Apparently, Johnson’s critical comment touched a nerve with Cuomo, who responded to Johnson with a short, defensive and unprovoked monologue about “fake news.”

Here’s what Cuomo said to Johnson:

I know you’re not suggesting that I’m using misleading information, right? You let me know what I’m saying that is inaccurate. Because this whole ‘fake’ thing needs to end, and it needs to end right now! You tell me what I’m getting wrong, or we’ll deal with the number as the CBO is putting them out.

Sounds like Cuomo is feeling the squeeze after all of the controversy surrounding CNN and “fake news” in the last week.

“I’m not accusing you,” Johnson responded. “I’m talking about the fact that people don’t understand the 22 million was a wrong baseline.”

The “22 million” that Johnson was alluding to was in reference to the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) report, released this past Monday, that the Senate Republican health care bill would leave 22 million fewer Americans with health insurance by 2026.

It looks like Cuomo is in desperate need of going to the grocery store, because it sounds as if he’s chock full of sour grapes.
