CNN Host Claims Congress Already Has Term Limits

In an attempt to make Donald Trump look like he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, CNN’s Brooke Baldwin tried to tell her audience on Tuesday that Congress already has term limits. There's just one problem -- it's not true.

Baldwin stated during the program, “[Trump] says, 'If I’m elected president, I will push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress.' Correct me, there already are term limits, so what does he mean?”

(Side note: The fact that she prefaces her false statement with “Correct me” is confusing enough. Did she know that she was wrong before she even made the claim?)

Baldwin's colleague and CNN political correspondent Dana Bash awkwardly tried to respond without blatantly correcting Baldwin, saying, “Right, well, there are term limits on the presidency, of course, and one of the big debates for some time has been whether or not the fact that there are no term limits in Congress, whether or not that helps to breed corruption…”

Trump has recently called for congressional term limits to help avoid corruption in career politicians who are regularly paid -- and thereby influenced -- by lobbyists over decades. Many on both sides of the political aisle have called for term limits for years, but the policy has yet to be put in effect.
