Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and Vermont senator Bernie Sanders squared off in Milwaukee Thursday night at the PBS Democratic presidential debate, just days after Sanders topped Clinton in the New Hampshire primary.

Clinton criticized Sanders for not being “specific” enough about the price tag on his policy initiatives, including free college tuition, nationalized healthcare, and rebuilding the country's infrastructure.

“I have been very specific about where I would raise the money, how much it would cost, and how I would move this agenda forward,” she said.

“My price tag is about 100 billion dollars a year, and, again, paid for,” Clinton continued. “I will not throw us further into debt. I believe I can get the money that I need by taxing the wealthy, closing loopholes, things we’re way overdue for…”

“Secretary Clinton, you’re not in the White House yet,” Sanders fired back.

Clinton also noted that Sanders’ “numbers don’t add up,” saying that she and her opponent owe it to the American people to explain what they are proposing.

Both candidates favor expanding government but have different approaches to achieving that goal.
