Not many things are more enjoyable than being forced to pay for a public school system that tirelessly works to undermine the moral and ethical principles one tries to teach his or her kids.
Examples abound, and this one, out of Westside High School, in Jacksonville, Florida, is a perfect example.
On a homework sheet for her eleventh grade anatomy class, Omar Austin’s daughter was to answer this wonderful, and highly pertinent, question:
Ursula was devastated when her boyfriend broke up with her after having sex. To get revenge, she had sex with his best friend the next day. Ursula had a beautiful baby girl 9 months later. Ursula has type O blood, her ex-boyfriend is type AB blood, and his best friend is type A blood. If her baby daddy is her ex-boyfriend, what could her baby’s possible blood type(s) NOT be?
Classy.
In one question, the morass of contemporary public education is laid bare. This question contains in it premarital sex, revenge sex, promiscuity, out-of-wedlock birth, and, given the age group of the students, what one can easily assume is statutory rape.
All for a question about inherited blood type.
The father made a Facebook post about it, including a video of the homework, as he read the question aloud. A question given to his daughter, who only recently became old enough to get her driver’s license.
As WTLV reports, the Duval County Public Schools made the problem even worse, indicating that their tax-paid administration officials appeared blissfully unaware of what was in the homework assignment, and that, somehow, they need not have known. They wrote:
The question was highly inappropriate and was not part of a district assessment. We are thankful to the parent who contacted the school directly to share his concerns. Immediately upon being made aware of this matter, school and district leaders began conducting a review of the situation. Appropriate and corrective action will be taken.
Evidently, if it’s not part of the “district assessment”, the higher-ups can pretend to be safe in their ignorance of the affairs of the system. This is the administration that gets oodles of Mr. Austin’s tax money or the government will take his home.
This is the school system that lists its total 2017-2018 revenues from federal, state, and local taxpayers as more than a billion dollars. Seriously. The total is $1,093,233,366. In fact, all total funds are even higher, standing at $1,711,908,315.
And the system does that to the students, then spouts lame excuses after getting caught.
Does anyone think this system will get less money next year? Anyone want to guess as to whether this unethical system will offer refunds -- this cesspool of legalized plunder that often doesn’t match the principles of parents and other taxpayers?
The questions are all rhetorical. Everyone knows the answer to every single one is, “No.”
