In an exclusive interview with the Daily Caller, civil rights attorney and former Democrat Leo Terrell expressed his newfound support for President Trump and explained why he left the Democratic Party.

Terrell says, “The Democratic Party in 2020 is as follows: it has been hijacked by Black Lives Matter.”

“That’s why I’ve shifted away from the Democratic Party. Two major reasons: one, Joe Biden made the assumption that if you’re black, you have to vote Democrat. I find that offensive and insulting to every African American because we don’t vote as one group. Secondly, defunding the police is absolutely ridiculous, Democrats believe in law and order. Those are the two major reasons why I left the Democratic Party,” Terrell added.

Terrell goes on to point out that in many cities where crime has spiked in the wake of police budget cuts are run by Democrats and people of color.

“You got Democratic cities, Chicago, Atlanta, [Los Angeles], run by Democrats, run by people of color. There’s chaos in those cities! And they’re calling systemic discrimination? They need to look in the mirror.”

“Black Lives Matter doesn’t care about all black lives,” Terrell also said, also referring to David Dorn, a retired St. Louis police captain who was fatally shot in June.

Terrell says his support for Trump has caused friends and colleagues to ‘shun’ him: “My colleagues have shunned me, they don’t talk to me. They don’t text me anymore.”
