In a very rare interview, CIA Director John Brennan sat down with Scott Pelley of 60 Minutes and talked about how ISIS has chemical weapons.

During the interview that aired on Sunday night, Brennan describes what kind of weapons ISIS has, and how they have and might still use them.

JB (John Brennan): We have a number of instances where ISIL has used chemical munitions on the battlefield.

SP (Scott Pelley): Artillery shells?

JB: Sure.

SP: ISIS has access to chemical artillery shells?

JB: There are reports that ISIS has access to chemical precursors and munitions that they can use.

SP: And the capability of exporting those chemicals to the West?

JB: I think there’s always a potential for that. This is why it’s so important to cut off the various transportation routes and smuggling routes that they have used.

SP: Are there American assets right now on the ground hunting this down?

JB: The U.S. Intelligence is actively involved in being a part of the effort to destroy ISIL, and to get as much insight into what they have on the ground inside of Syria and Iraq.

Pelley also reported that the CIA believes that ISIS has the capability of manufacturing small amounts of chlorine and mustard gas.

There has been a point of contention over the last year or two over whether or not ISIS will attack the United States. If the San Bernardino attack was any indication, and the information provided by Brennan is true, then something more drastic needs to be done about the Middle Eastern terror syndicate.
