Another Christian university has failed to uphold its Christian principles.

Belmont University, a “Christ-centered” university in Nashville, Tennessee, scratched a campus event hosted by Promise Keepers after Christian organization's took a public stand against "Pride Month."

The group had scheduled an event at Belmont University as part of their series titled Daring Faith, described as “an event & challenge for men of integrity." But Belmont canceled the event after Promise Keepers put out this statement:

“We will not stand on the sidelines and remain quiet. As fathers, husbands, grandfathers, and young men—we see the dangers of gender ideology and the harm it causes,” the Promise Keeper’s statement reads.

“At Promise Keepers, we affirm that God made human beings in His image to reflect Him. He created male and female with equal worth and dignity—and there was no mistake in that design. (Genesis 1:27; Mark 10:6)”

The statement continues, “In our present day, men and women are increasingly confused about their identities. Biological identity has been severed as separate from ‘gender identity,’ while children across the United States are actively indoctrinated into intense inner turmoil about who they ‘really are.’”

Promise Keepers concluded by stating that gender ideology has “damaged lives, mutilated bodies, and torn apart families in our own communities.”

No Christian university should have a problem with this statement. But Belmont, apparently, does.

According to a press release by the Promise Keepers, Belmont “cited a conflict in values” as the reason for the cancellation. However, Belmont said the organization’s statement affirming a Biblical definition of gender “unnecessarily fan the flames of culture wars and are harmful to members of our community,” according to CBN

"Belmont and the Fisher Center welcome the opportunity to host and work with a variety of groups that hold disparate opinions, and we encourage the exchange of dialogue,” the statement added. “Yet as an ecumenical, Christ-centered institution we are also unequivocal in our belief in the value of each human being, and we are committed to engaging in constructive conversations that demonstrate kindness and seek understanding.”

“We will not knowingly provide a space for any group whose language we believe to lack that same respect," the statement concluded.

It seems Belmont doesn’t want to hurt feelings, even at the expense of the Christian faith by which they claim to abide. Though Promise Keepers defended Christianity and cited Scripture from the same Bible the university purports to uphold, Belmont caved and appealed to progressive ideology instead.

I wonder why Belmont didn’t use Biblical scripture to support their statements?
