Everybody ready for yet another Kennedy to enter the political world? Well, even if you’re not, it’s happening anyway, and he’s not shy about how he feels about his opponent.

Chris Kennedy, son of the late Robert “Bobby” Kennedy, threw his hat into the ring in Illinois’ race for governor on Wednesday. Kennedy will be facing Republican incumbent, Gov. Bruce Rauner.

One day after his announcement, Kennedy was interviewed Thursday on ‘WGN Morning News’ in Chicago.

Both candidates are extremely wealthy, but Kennedy called out Rauner for his lack of empathy toward people reliant on government programs.

“I think it's important that people of drive and ambition and intelligence like Gov. Rauner does,” Kennedy told WGN’s Robin Baumgarten, “but I think you also have to have a heart and a sensitivity, and I don't think there's any demonstration that he has a heart.”

Seemingly shocked by Kennedy’s words, Baumgarten replied by saying, “That seems harsh, you're calling him heartless.”

Kennedy didn’t backtrack at all, and instead of retracting the inflammatory statement, Kennedy doubled-down.

“Well I think he is. He's thrown a million people out of government programs,” Kennedy continued. “He sat on the sidelines while 75 percent of these kids are doomed to a life of economic oppression.”

It should be an interesting race. The election for the Illinois governor’s office is slated for the 2018 cycle.
