At the Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival last weekend, country group The Chicks and singer Kacey Musgraves decided to take jabs at elected officials and issues that they didn’t favor during their performances.

God forbid they just do their jobs and ya know, sing.

During the festival on Saturday, The Chicks presented cartoon images that poked fun at Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX),  and Supreme Court Justices.

The Chicks also played a video that showcased protests and rallies in support of gay pride, Black Lives Matter and abortion during their “March March” song, Chroncom noted on TikTok.

The Chicks even used the microphones to advocate for TX gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke.

Lead singer, Natalie Maines, who wore a Ruth Bader Ginsburg shirt screamed, “Let me tell you something. Do you have a mother? Do you have sisters? Do you have a daughter? Do you have a girlfriend? Vote Beto!”

Some audience members cheered while others booed.

Maines added, “If you have a female in your life that you care about, vote for Beto. Stand up, show up for her in November."

During The Chick’s Friday performance, an audience member even spotted a Beto sticker on the side of band member Emily Strayer’s piano

Strayer also had her daughter come onstage in a white T-shirt that read “juntos se puede" and then had “BETO” written across it, Chron reported. “Juntos se puede" translates to “together we can.”

Ah, child exploitation at its finest.

None other than Beto O’Rourke himself showed up to the concert to claim his endorsement.

The Chick’s outcry was not surprising. Afterall, the group dedicates a portion of its band website to show its support for Planned Parenthood. They first got political back after 9/11, when they had a less woke name (The Dixie Chicks) but the same stupid politics. They lost a lot of country fans with their anti-American outbursts.

At the ACL concert on Sunday, country singer/songwriter Kasey Musgraves also took a jab at Cruz. During her song “High Horse,” Musgraves sang the line “Everyone knows someone who kills the buzz, every time they open up their mouth” but this time added “ … Ted Cruz. I said what I said.”

Again, unsurprising. Last year Musgraves trolled Cruz by selling T-Shirts that said

Musgraves also supposedly called out the Supreme Court. “F the Supreme Court honestly. We’re in a weird time but we’ve got each other… There is a light. I promise,” a Texas news reporter tweeted out.

The only light I’m seeing is that less innocent children will on be death row as a result of the Supreme Court’s decision so …

The thing is, if people wanted to get left-wing political garbage shoved down their throats they’d turn on CNN or MSNBC, not go to a music festival.

It’s getting awfully annoying to have celebrities poke their noses where they don’t belong and this past weekend’s charade in Texas was no exception.
