If nothing else, we can say that the criminals in Chicago are amazingly consistent with their violence.

At least seven people were killed with another 53 wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend. This is eerily similar to the six people murdered and 61 wounded in shootings during the previous weekend.

Sadly, one of the seven killed was a 12-year-old boy found unresponsive “with a gunshot wound to the head,” according ABC 7 - Chicago.

Unfortunately, the ABC 7 got their information from the Chicago Sun-Times media wire, and the outlet apparently didn’t publish an independent story. So, there will be no list of the people who died over the weekend.

Rest in peace to the seven souls, ranging in age from 12 to 54, who were killed over the weekend.

As for the year-to-date totals for Chicago weekend shootings, 230 people have been murdered and another 1,352 have been wounded in Chicago in 2021. The Chicago Tribune, which keeps a tracker of all shooting victims in Chicago, have apparently given up keeping track as they still haven’t updated their numbers in over two months. But, they reported that — as of July 7 — 2,021 people have been shot in Chicago this year. That number is 164 more than at the same point in 2020, which saw the second most shooting victims in the last 10 years of tracking data.

It’s a travesty that the Tribune doesn’t feel the need to keep up with the numbers.
