One shooting victim is too many. But, when you go an entire Chicago weekend in 2020 with 17 victims, it’s a drastic improvement over most of the previous weekends this year. It’s very sad that 17 victims could even be construed as a positive, but that’s life in activist Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago.

At least three people were murdered and another 14 were wounded in weekend shootings across the Chicagoland area. The previous weekend saw at least five people killed and another 34 wounded.

Here are the names and ages of those who were killed this past weekend, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Cameron Rudder, 27

Unidentified Male, 37

William Howard, 24

The year-to-date numbers on weekend shooting victims in Chicago is now up to at least 315 people dead and 1,652 people wounded. The Chicago Tribune shooting tracker, which keeps a weekly count of all Chicago shooting victims regardless of the day of the week, reported that 3,933 people have been victims of shootings as of December 7. That is 1,383 more than at the same point in 2019, and the second highest number behind the same point in 2016 (4,148).
