Thanksgiving weekend shootings in Chicago saw a drop from the same holiday weekend in 2020. Last year, 11 people were killed and another 31 were wounded.

This year, at least two people were killed and another 27 were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend. This is down from the previous weekend, which saw at least five people shot dead and another 34 wounded.

The details about the shooting victims who died of their wounds are very murky. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that a male “between 18 to 35 years old” and a male “believed to be between 20 and 30 years old” were killed over the weekend.

As for the year-to-date totals for Chicago weekend shootings, 292 people have been murdered and another 1,728 have been wounded in Chicago in 2021. Compared to this time last year, 15 fewer people have been shot dead (2020 - 307 Dead), but 124 more have been wounded (2020 - 1,604 Wounded). Overall, those numbers represent an increase of 109 more weekend shooting victims in 2021 than in 2020.
