Comedian Chelsea Handler is looking to Germany as model of how to punish people who “think racism is funny.”
In a tweet on Sunday evening, Handler referenced the two Chinese tourists who were arrested in Berlin for making Nazi salutes outside of the Reichstag. Germany currently bans hate symbols, such as the Nazi salute. According to German law, the punishment for using “symbols of unconstitutional organizations” is up to three years in jail. The New York Times reports the men, aged 36 and 49, were ordered to pay 500 euros in bail, which approximates to $589.57.
Handler tweeted news of the arrest, adding:
2 Chinese guys were arrested in Berlin for making nazi salutes. Wouldn't it be nice 2 have laws here for people who think racism is funny?

Despite calling for legally punishing those who “think racism is funny,” Handler has repeatedly mocked First Lady Melania Trump for her accent:
Trump said Melania will give two or three more speeches… Hopefully an interpreter will be present.

Tim Kaine delivered a speech entirely in Spanish. Still easier to understand than Melania.p
