Imagine, if you will, that you're fleeing poverty and violence in a craphole country, so you cross into another country illegally to beg them to let you stay. Now imagine you want to show some gesture of good will, some sign of devotion to the nation you're hoping allows you in despite your flagrant disregard for their immigration laws.

If the first thing that comes to mind, "Gosh, maybe I should show up with a giant flag from my craphole country"?

No? Then you've got at least a few more braincells than this guy.

Patrol was forced to fire pepper bullets into a crowd of illegal aliens who swarmed the banks of the Rio Grande Monday and reportedly assaulted an agent with a Venezuelan flag.

According to this, the incident took place around noon when a group of migrants crossed into the U.S. illegally, one of them toting a giant Venezuelan flag on a metal pole.

"One of the protesters assaulted an agent with a flag pole, at which time agents responded by initiating crowd control measures," a CBP spokesperson told Fox News Digital. "These measures included the use of the authorized less-lethal force pepperball launching system."

Video from the moment shows the man with the Venezuelan flag retreating back into the water, while a man toting what appears to be a giant Honduran flag stands nearby (which totally doesn't look like an invasion AT ALL). The video was then tweeted out by a photo journalist who wrongly reported that CBP agents were firing rubber bullets into the crowd.

A Border Patrol union added in a post on Twitter that some illegal aliens were also chucking rocks at agents, which is known to be deadly. All the assailants reportedly returned to Mexico – though likely not for long.

The attack comes amid an unprecedented wave of illegal immigration at the border thanks to Biden's open-border policies that have rolled out the red carpet for anyone who can get a foot on U.S. soil - provided, I suppose, that they don't try to beat a border agent with a foreign flag. CBP nabbed more than 25,000 Venezuelans crossing the U.S. border illegally last August, up from 6,000 caught in August of 2021.
