Well, the brave heroes organizing the HBO Max Harry Potter movie reunion special have opted to not include a major player in the series in the celebratory event. And by major player, we mean the freaking woman who actually created the wizarding universe, J.K. Rowling.

Yep. The Daily Mail reported that of all the Harry Potter universe players invited to HBO Max’s reunion special, there was one “notable exception,” Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

Hmm, that’s very interesting. Might this have something to do with the fact that Rowling was cancelled over her “transphobic” Twitter comments from 2019 and 2020? Probably.

The HBO streaming platform announced its Harry Potter movie reunion special this past Tuesday, saying it “would bring together the cast members from all eight Harry Potter films for a retrospective special entitled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts.”

According to details given to TMZ.com, the special will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the fiction series’ first movie adaptation from 2001, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. That movie introduced fans to the now beloved actors behind the book’s main characters, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson.

Of course the franchise’s three stars will be featured in the anniversary documentary, as well as the first movie’s director, Christopher Columbus. This will be the first time the main characters have been together in public since the 2011  premiere of the last film in the movie franchise, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Other big celebrity names involved in the Harry Potter cinematic universe are reportedly attending, including, “Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Tom Felton, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Bonnie Wright and Jason Isaacs.”

According to the outlet, TMZ confirmed that Rowling will not be present for the reunion despite the fact that she wrote the books and was a consultant on the films. TMZ did mention that archival footage of interviews with the British author will be part of the special.

Of course with pop culture being so woke these days, it was impossible for outlets reporting on this to not presume that Rowling was probably kept from the reunion because of controversy she has generated with her remarks against the transgender activist community.

The Daily Mail wrote, “But the release does not mention the person responsible for the creation of the characters, author JK Rowling, who has been criticized for her views on transgender people.”

And The New York Post reported, “But it looks like one VIP doesn’t seem to be joining them: the creator of the Wizarding World herself and author of the famed Hogwarts universe, J.K. Rowling, who made some controversial comments about the trans community last year.”

It would be an understatement to say that Rowling’s criticism of trans activists, who she claimed are contributing to the concept of women being “erased,” and “erasing the concept of sex,” annoyed a few people. It started an internet firestorm that even prompted the kids who she helped make famous with her literary characters, to go after her.

The Daily Mail reminded readers that “Harry Potter actors Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Eddie Redmayne, who stars in her Fantastic Beasts films criticized the author for her remarks.”

Maybe Rowling had a scheduling conflict or something, but it does seem a little weird that the woman who made the entire universe possible, is not involved in a major franchise anniversary event.
