A Canadian politician found himself raked across the Twitter coals this weekend after he posted a photo of his wife shoveling a massive amount of snow off their family’s driveway after working a long shift at a local hospital.
Jon Reyes, a Progressive-conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, posted the photo from his home’s second story along with a caption claiming that his wife had just gotten home from her 12-hour shift as a medical provider and “still had the energy” to clear off the driveway, while he planned to reward her by making her some food.
“Even after a 12 hour night shift at the hospital last night, my wife still has the energy to shovel the driveway. God bless her and all our frontliners. Time to make her some breakfast,” Reyes wrote.

And Twitter was not kind.
After she gets done shoveling, maybe you can have her re-shingle your roof and do a quick oil change on your car.

My wife just finished a double shift in the ICU. I told her yesterday that my caddy's shifting was a bit off. She surprised me by pulling the tranny and swapped the Johnson Rod. I'm going to have a beer in her honour while she cleans up her oily mess. pic.twitter.com/NN0DUajqlQ

After being unceremoniously handed the Worst Husband Ever award by social media, Reyes retweeted a response presumably by his wife, Cynthia, who said she wanted to shovel the driveway.
All I wanted to do was shovel! 🤦🏻♀️ https://t.co/dlGyMnZV0r

A claim that’s totally believable, given that it’s the only tweet that’s ever been posted from Cynthia’s near-brand-new Twitter account.
