Canadian Borough Tells Residents To Have Fewer Kids To Slow 'Climate Change' - and It Didn't Go Over Well

There once was an infamous dictator - we’ll just call him “Schmitler” - who openly employed eugenics and forced population control as a means of achieving a "master race" and curating humanity to his own particular likings. And suffice it to say, that line didn’t exactly go over so well with a whole mess of people who realized that maybe murdering folks and keeping couples from having babies wasn't on the up and up.

Today, the party of “everyone I don’t like is a Nazi” are busy pushing a frighteningly similar ideology. And thankfully, a lot of people still aren’t too happy about it.

Case in point: this Montreal neighborhood, where the local government is under fire from residents after sending out a flyer suggesting people should have fewer children to help slow climate change.

As part of a public hearing on the locale’s efforts to combat anthropogenic climate change, the Montreal borough of Outremont issued to some 9,000 residents a flyer featuring a handy bar graph with suggestions on how individual residents could shrink their personal carbon footprint. The most effective action, according to the graph, was to have one fewer child - followed by the suggestion of taking one less transatlantic trip per year.

Residents of the suburb - which happens to have more children under 14 than any other borough, according to CBC - weren’t pleased.

After understandable backlash from scores of people angry that their local government was now telling them how many kids to have - or not have, as it were - Outremont borough mayor Laurent Desbois backpedaled like Joe Biden trying not to faceplant on the asphalt.

"I was extremely upset," he said, claiming that the graph isn’t properly reviewed and never should have gone out in the first place. "Having a child is an individual choice [and] this option was never discussed inside the borough.”

Of course, that gets just a little hard to believe considering that deliberately having fewer children - and even aborting those that have already been conceived - are regularly floated by leftists as tangible solutions to curbing climate change.

CNBC published an article in August of 2021 flatly titled, “Climate change is making people think twice about having children.” The Guardian wrote in July of 2017, “Want to fight climate change? Have fewer children.” (Other options included selling your car and going vegetarian, in case being a childless shrew wasn’t in your life plan.) That same year, Science Magazine ran a piece that began, “Recycling and using public transit are all fine and good if you want to reduce your carbon footprint, but to truly make a difference you should have fewer children.”

Others have gone even further by suggesting babies should be murdered to hep save the planet. Yale published a piece in 2022 that explicitly stated, "Avoiding unwanted births — by making contraception and abortion freely available globally — would significantly reduce births and therefore (over the long term) human-generated carbon emissions."

And despite the number of experts that have pushed back on the claim that having fewer kids will substantially impact “global warming” at all, many gullible people have bought the claim hook, line, and sinker - and are getting dragged down with it. ABC reported that according to a poll taken just last year, “nearly a quarter of U.S. adults ages 18 to 45 (23%) say that climate change has made them reconsider having a biological child.” A similar poll taken in 2018 published by the New York Times found that a third of American adults ages 20 to 45 said climate change was a factor in their choice to have fewer kids.

But hey, if we're forced to find the silver lining on this mushroom cloud of stupidity, at least we know many of the morons aren't breeding.
