Quick question: what isn’t racist anymore? It would probably take less time to list the items that way, judging by how race hustlers constantly cry racism at the drop of a hat.

The California chapter of the NAACP are prepping a new campaign for when state lawmakers return to the state Capitol in Sacramento in January, calling for the removal of the “Star-Spangled Banner” as the national anthem.

Because...California.

According to the Sacramento Bee:

The organization last week began circulating among legislative offices two resolutions that passed at its state conference in October: one urging Congress to rescind “one of the most racist, pro-slavery, anti-black songs in the American lexicon” as the national anthem, and another in support of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who launched a protest movement against police brutality among professional athletes by kneeling when “The Star-Spangled Banner” was played before games.

“We owe a lot of it to Kaepernick,” California NAACP President Alice Huffman said. “I think all this controversy about the knee will go away once the song is removed.”

I’m going to say no, and I don’t need a reason. Just no.

The crux of the problem is the vaunted third verse of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which alludes to slavery, that absolutely no one sings and few people know exists. (Not to mention that entire verse has been taken wildly out of historical context and doesn't actually promote slavery in any way, so there's also that.)

Should the country get rid of Black Entertainment Television (BET) because it largely excludes white people? Absolutely not. Should the country get rid of Chik-Fil-A because they’re a Christian company and not everyone is Christian? Again, no. People label things racist, or sexist or offensive, simply because they didn’t get the attention they wanted as a child. Grow the hell up, and stop crying. Not everything in life is going to make you happy. Hillary Clinton isn’t the president. Harvey Weinstein is a sexual deviant. The sky is blue. Water is wet, and the “Star-Spangled Banner” is the national anthem.

Period.
