BuzzFeed Canada: White Males Need Not Apply

White males need not send their pitches to BuzzFeed Canada.

BuzzFeed Canada senior writer Scaachi Koul tweeted Thursday that BuzzFeed Canada is looking for people to pitch “Canada-centric essays & reporting.”

In a follow up post, Koul wrote BuzzFeed Canada is explicitly looking for people who are “not white and not male”:

After explaining the process for pitching articles and ideas, Koul wrote that she is “LOOKING MOSTLY FOR NON-WHITE NON-MEN” and for those who happen fall into the category of white and male, “I DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU”:

Koul stated white men are still available to pitch their ideas, but she is “less interested” simply because they happen to be white and male:

Although stating she doesn’t care about white men, Koul insists she did not say “white men need not apply.”

At the same time, Koul ranted about how white men think they are “owed everything” and how she believes certain people are owed “preferential treatment” just because of how they’re born:

While advocating for preferential treatment for minorities, Koul also stated she wants to explicitly “BAN MEN,” which, by her logic, would happen to include people who identify as men (such as trans men):

Koul has indicated BuzzFeed Canada supports her decision to use “affirmative action,” even if that means banning men, white men, and trans men and throwing them in the trash:

Koul is reveling in the backlash she is receiving from white men, even liking it to a “glorious” sexual act.
