All insectophobes beware! Sabula, Iowa is not the place for you!

Police arrived at the Sabula-Savanna bridge in order to assist motorists who had been involved in an accident. They weren’t ready to deal with the chitin tide that was the millions-strong mayfly swarm.

The bugs piled atop one another on the road, creating a layer of flailing bug parts over the road. Literally inches of bugs squirming and creating “ice-like” conditions on the bridge. Fire crews from Sabula and Savanna, as well as Iowa and Illinois Department of Transportation (DOT), were needed to clean up the mess.

DOT literally PLOWED the bridge as if it had snowed. Just watch the video below and see the nightmare for yourself.
