Apparently New York City Mayor Warren Wilhelm - excuse me, Bill de Blasio - is another one of these tone deaf politicians that don’t understand or simply ignore when the majority of people, regardless of race, sex or political party, dislike them. They act as if everything is fine, and that they’re governance hasn’t caused division among the people.
There are multiple videos surfacing as of this writing showing the crowd at a Brooklyn vigil for the late George Floyd giving a chorus of boos and jeers to de Blasio as he and his wife took the podium. The man who introduced de Blasio had to come back to the microphone to remind everyone that they should “respect” the mayor. Some of the crowd chanted with the man, who was identified by the New York Post as Rev. Kevin McCall, but most continued booing.

After the introduction, and a few words from his wife Chirlane McCray, de Blasio took the podium to speak and the crowd booed louder the more the mayor spoke.
The Post also reported that some of de Blasio’s detractors shouted to turn their backs on him, much like NYPD officers repeatedly have in the past. Some actually ended up turning their backs on the 59-year-old Democrat.
“Black lives matter,” de Blasio said towards the end of his comments.
“Not to you!” a person in the crowd shouted back.
