Walmart has officially joined the long - and lengthening - list of companies ditching their ridiculous, cumbersome, and pricey “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” programs in what is hopefully sounding more and more like the death rattle of corporate “woke” culture.

While other companies like Ford and John Deere have initiated similar rollbacks of their own DEI programs, Walmart, which currently employs about 1.6 million people, is by far the largest company to make such an announcement. According to NPR:

The changes, confirmed by Walmart on Monday, are sweeping and include everything from not renewing a five-year commitment for an equity racial center set up in 2020 after the police killing of George Floyd, to pulling out of a prominent gay rights index. And when it comes to race or gender, Walmart won't be giving priority treatment to suppliers.

Which kinda begs the question, why the heck would they in the first place? Prioritizing suppliers based on race and gender? Sounds like open racism and sexism to me.

As part of its DEI rollback, the company said it would not be continuing with its “racial equity center,” a five-year, $100 million project that was set up following the death of George Floyd in 2020 that was meant to "address the root causes of gaps in outcomes experienced by Black and African American people in education, health, finance and criminal justice systems."

Walmart also told the Associated Press this week that it would be keeping a closer eye on third-party suppliers to make sure sexualized products, including things like chest binders for “trans” people, aren’t marketed to children. Walmart also said it will be more diligent about making sure the company is not financially supporting “Pride” events targeting kids.

NPR reports:

The Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer will also be reviewing grants to Pride events to make sure it is not financially supporting sexualized content that may be unsuitable for kids. For example, the company wants to makes sure a family pavilion is not next to a drag show at a Pride event, the company said.

Walmart will also be ending its participation in the radically leftwing Human Rights Campaign’s program to monitor “inclusion” for LGBTQ workers.

While the company didn't point to any specific reason for the change (which, frankly, should just be based in common sense, if nothing else), it's notable that the major announcement comes just a few weeks after President-elect Donald Trump won re-election to his second, non-consecutive term, riding on a wave of voters largely fed-up with woke garbage being shoved down the American public's throat at every turn.
