South Carolina Governor and Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley blasted the lack of transparency in health care in the United States during a presidential debate Wednesday night, vowing to give people more control over their own health care decisions while cutting red tape and driving competition between health care providers.

"We will break all of it…hospitals, PBMS, pharmaceutical companies,” Haley said.

"We need to bring competition back to healthcare. Get rid of certificate of needs systems and make sure that they can compete," she added. "We have to put the patient in the driver's seat. They've been in the backseat for way too long."
