Video reportedly out of a California coffee shop shows the shocking moment when employees physically barred an elderly Jewish woman from going to the bathroom because she was Jewish.

The nauseating footage, filmed by the woman who was being denied restroom access, shows no fewer than three workers at Farley’s East in Oakland blocking the door to the bathroom while telling her she’s not allowed to go in, despite the fact that she’d purchased something from the store.

“I want to go into the restroom,” the woman repeatedly tells the employees, two of whom are wearing COVID-era face masks.

One female worker tells the woman she's being denied access to the bathroom because “this is private property,” while another female employee with blue hair stands in front of the door.

“I know Israel loves taking private property and saying it’s their own,” a dunce-looking male employee throws out.

The first female employee then repeatedly tells the woman, “I need you to leave.”

“I’m a patron here and I need to go to the restroom,” the customer repeats, to which the male employee responds, “And we’re refusing you service.”

At one point, an employee who says she’s with the store next door tells the woman she can use their restroom instead.

Finally, after more than a minute of tense back-and-forth, the first female employee finally admits there’s anti-Semitic writing on the walls in the bathroom, which is why she’s refusing to let the woman in to document the hateful messages.

“All you’re gonna get is video of it saying that Zionism is anti[unintelligible] because it is,” she says, before finally letting the woman into the room to see for herself. True to her claims, the bathroom is scrawled with painted messages including, “Zionism = Fascism,” “Your neutrality/apathy is enabling genocide,” and “Free Palestine.”

One worker tells the lady, “We love it” after she gets a good look at the bathroom.

After the video went viral on social media, Farley’s East confirmed in a post on Facebook that the coffee shop was in fact the site of the hateful incident, saying it was an “error” and adding the store had “taken corrective measures with our staff," without specifying exactly what that means. The store added by way of excuse that they're simply "doing [their] best to operate a community business in a difficult environment."

It's little hard to believe the owners of the shop weren't aware of the graffiti scrawled all over its store bathroom, or of the rampant racism and anti-Semitism within their staff, given that their employees felt perfectly comfortable being filmed telling a Jewish woman she couldn't use the bathroom. That's not a "difficult environment" - it's racism. And it shouldn't be hard to take a stand against it.
