You know crime is bad in America when you actually have to apologize to your mugger while you’re being mugged.

Cell phone footage caught on the D.C. metro this week shows just that: the moment when a black man forcibly ripped a high-dollar coat off a train rider while the man profusely apologized for whatever had angered his attacker.

“Gimme the other one, gimme the other one. Snitch, I’mma crush your b*** a**. I’mma crush you,” the man shouted at his victim, who held his hands up as he shrugged out of his own coat and turned it over to the assailant.

“I wasn’t snitching. I wasn’t snitching,” the guy insisted.

It’s not immediately clear what the man had allegedly “snitched” on, other than the fact that he’d been on his cell phone and had apparently seen his attacker doing something potentially illegal just moments before being robbed.

As the thief walked away with his coat, the victim stood up and again insisted he hadn’t “snitched.”

“I’m sorry, I wasn’t snitching,” he called out, prompting the thief to return and demand his cell phone.

The robber then made off with the guy’s clothes and his phone while the victim continued groveling.

While licking the boots of the jack hole stealing your jacket probably rubs most of us the wrong way, begging your own mugger for forgiveness is currently a safer bet than trying to defend yourself against violence, thanks to leftists insistence on letting criminals do whatever they want with no consequences. After all, you wouldn’t want to end up like Daniel Penny by actually trying to stop the guy threatening you.
