Victoria’s Secret is bringing back sexiness after it turns out no one wanted to buy lingerie from overweight women, dudes in heels, and obnoxious athletes.

CNN reports the iconic underwear company is ending its “rebrand” efforts that began a couple of years ago, when Victoria’s Secret nixed its famous “Angels” supermodels in favor of plus-sized “normal” women, men masquerading as women, and loudmouth feminist soccer players. The brand also ditched its annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to promote their new “inclusive” marketing gimmick.

But while VS says media critics raved about the two-year campaign - particularly when it featured trans "woman" Valentina Sampaio and US Women's Soccer champ Megan Rapinoe - the effort never really landed with customers, who apparently preferred fit beauty queens to lesbian banshees and dudes tucking their junk into thongs.

Shocker there.

Now, the company says it will increase its offerings of sexier items like slip dresses and corset tops to win back customers after their projected sales this year plummeted 5% from last year, and 15% from 2020. In a meeting last week with investors, company execs also said they’re re-hiring a few Angel models to help kickstart the company’s return to sexy apparel.

“Sexiness can be inclusive,” Victoria’s Secret and Pink brand president Greg Unis said in the meeting. “Sexiness can celebrate the diverse experiences of our customers and that’s what we’re focused on.”

Gosh, if only someone had predicted that shoving obese women and dudes in drag into lacy panties and posting them all over lingerie store windows wouldn’t be the marketing gold mine they thought it would.
