Whatever the opposite of a “sanctuary city” is, one Idaho locale just became one.

While places like New York City, Denver, and Chicago buckle under the weight of supporting droves of border crossers who've swarmed into their cities over the past two years, the city of Eagle, Idaho just passed a resolution declaring it will not be supporting illegal aliens within its borders, and that public funds will not be used to fund undocumented migrants.

The vote came after public comments from residents who said they wanted anti-sanctuary city policies in place to protect taxpayer funds from supporting people who shouldn’t be in the country.

The resolution cites the “negative impacts and significant increases to their budgets and costs to the public” in sanctuary cities that protect and support illegal aliens as a reason why the city is banning the use of public funding to house, clothe, feed, and otherwise provide assistance to the undocumented. As a “non-sanctuary city,” Eagle will also not implement policies that restrict local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE to take custody of criminal aliens wanted for immigration violations.
