President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump took to the White House balcony to help kick off the 2025 White House Easter Egg Roll Monday morning, an annual event that invites thousands of America’s children on the White House lawn to play games, hunt for eggs, and enjoy the sights from one of the most iconic buildings in the world.
But this year, rather than just rolling some eggs on the grass or high-fiving the Easter Bunny, families were treated to a sight that's been conspicuously absent for the past four years - a president publicly proclaiming the name of Jesus Christ.
In his remarks, after thanking the First Lady for organizing the event, Trump cited Christ as the entire reason for Easter.
“Easter is special…We’re honoring Jesus Christ and we're going to honor Jesus Christ very powerfully throughout our lives…not just now, but all throughout our lives” Trump said, adding, “We’re bringing religion back to America.”

Last year, then-President Joe Biden didn’t actually deliver the opening remarks, opting to have his wife and handler, Jill, address the crowd instead, during which she told children they could go “build circuit breakers” and “learn something new today” as part of that year’s event festivities, adding that “education expands our horizons and transports us to new worlds.”
Not a word about Jesus Christ, his death on the cross, or his resurrection.
