Vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, who once claimed to have carried a gun in war and who has leaned heavily into his midwestern identity as a “man’s man,” drew criticism - and more than a little mockery - over the weekend after a video went viral showing the Minnesota governor struggling to load a shotgun during a hunting trip/photo op.

Accompanied by other Democrat Party members and, of course, the press, Walz “trekked through tall straw-like grass for three hours on Saturday” on the first day of pheasant hunting season in Minnesota. But despite hauling through the fields for hours in coveralls, Walz never fired a single shot, and appeared utterly lost when it came to putting the shells in the Beretta shotgun he supposedly owns.

“He looks like a drunk Elmer Fudd,” one X user commented.

“A military man that cannot load a shotgun…..?” another asked.

“You can also tell he’s a frequent hunter by his perfectly clean vest that I’m sure wasn’t just bought for this video,” someone else pointed out.

Walz has already raised eyebrows for a pile of lies he’s peddled throughout his political career and the 2024 campaign - including claiming to have retired as a Command Sergeant Major (he didn’t), having carried guns in a war zone (he didn’t), having been in China during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989 (he wasn’t), and having used IVF to conceive children with his wife (they didn’t).

So, especially after this video, it’s no wonder people are questioning whether Walz is really an experienced hunter who owns a shotgun.
