Democrat Representative and resident weave-tosser Jasmine Crockett scoffed at the idea of giving $5,000 checks to Americans carved from the billions in government waste that President Donald Trump and Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency say they're eliminating, with Crockett suggesting that giving people their money back isn't the government's "business" and that no one should care about an extra $5,000 in chump change, anyway.

"Now President Trump says he likes the idea of giving some of the savings from DOGE back to Americans as kind of a dividend. Would you support that?" an ABC news host asked Crockett.

To which the Democrat lawmaker immediately accused Trump of "telling a lie," rushing to claim that these rebate-like checks wouldn't be anything like the COVID-era payments blasted out like confetti by the Biden administration back in 2021, which many credit for sparking inflation and inviting an avalanche of fraud and abuse that we're still trying to dig ourselves out of to this day.

But after calling Trump a liar, suggesting he'll likely walk us into more pandemics, and claiming that there's "no money" in the federal coffers to give back to the people, Crockett made a statement that could only be described as jaw-droppingly asinine, and out-of-touch to boot.

"We [the government] are not in the business of giving out money. and honestly, I don't know what $5,000 will do for you," she said.

Now look, I’m not a huge proponent of the idea of handing out $5,000 in rebates from all the taxpayer cash DOGE says they’re finding and saving. I like any effort to cut government waste and spend tax dollars more efficiently, but artificially pumping money back into Americans' bank accounts is part of what got us our fun little inflation problem in the first place (see: those COVID payments we talked about). I would much rather see that money going to paying down the national debt, or funding much-needed advancements for our national defense, or a handful of other places where I think it’d be better spent.

I'm not looking for a government handout. I'm looking for some responsible management of the cash they've got.

But to say that the government isn’t in "the business of giving out money” is imply obtuse - of course they are. In 2023 alone, the federal government spent over $10,000 per American on “entitlement” programs, an increase of about 55% over the prior decade. That amounted to $3.8 trillion - with a "t" - shucked out for programs like Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, food stamps, and unemployment benefits. The federal government is all to happy to take taxpayer dollars and “give it out” to other people, including those who didn’t earn it.

It’s also ridiculously stupid to suggest that $5,000 would be of no benefit to the average American - unless, I suppose, you’re a dimwitted leftist congresswoman making $174,000 plus Cadillac-level benefits off the taxpayer dime.

The average yearly salary in the US is $65,470, and the typical U.S. household currently owes about $10,500 in credit card debt. With the price of eggs topping $5 a carton and four years of Bidenflation strangling everyone on everything from utility bills to groceries and the cost of filling up your gas tank once a week, most people could probably use an extra five grand to help give them a little breathing room.

Not that Jasmine Crockett much cares.

Just go stuff your facehole with some cake, peasant.
