The manager of an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado that’s been taken over by the notoriously violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua was beaten by the gang so severely, he had to be treated at a local hospital.

That’s according to the company that manages the building, who said in a lengthy thread posted to X that their employee was assaulted by multiple gang members after refusing to accept their bribe in turn for allowing them to illegally squat at the Whispering Pines Complex. Brooklyn-based CBZ Management, which owns 11 complexes across Aurora and other locales in Colorado, released a photo of the bloodied man, along with a statement claiming he was attacked in the fall of 2023 after finding several men illegally occupying on of the building’s units and refusing their $500 offer to let them stay.

The company said the employee also began getting threatening text messages that included his home address and spouse's name, Fox News reports.

"I think they were trying to kill me. I don’t know how I got out, but I got out," the man later told Fox 31.

Fox News adds:

A police report from the incident obtained from the 18th Judicial District Court by Denver 7 shows that one of the company's property managers was assaulted by documented Tren de Aragua member Yoendry Vilchez Medina-Jose in November 2023. It was not immediately clear if that was the same incident.

Many Democrats, including leftwing media pundits and politicians including Colorado Democrat Gov. Jared Polis, have claimed that fears over Tren de Aragua “takeovers” of apartment complexes are “overblown” and insisting gang violence isn’t really a problem.

After weeks of these claims, CBZ Management released this statement on social media last week:

”Gangs have taken control of several of our properties in Aurora, Colorado. In an attempt to discredit this fact for political purposes and avoid governmental accountability, some have spread false information about our situation. Despite clear evidence, many still deny the reality of the situation, sometimes using us as scapegoats. That’s why we are no longer staying silent. We will continue to counter falsehoods with simple facts and evidence. Yes, gangs did take control of our apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, and the government did nothing. That is the real story.”

Local officials have downplayed those claims, saying that even if Venezuelan gangs have taken over CBZ-operated buildings, the complexes are “slums” that had already been issued multiple citations for pests and general inhabitability. Which, I guess, means it’s OK that they’ve been taken over by an international crime ring made up of violent illegal aliens.

For their part, CBZ claims the city’s citations were issued to cover up the known gang problem, and that the company didn’t address them them because the building had already been taken over by criminals.
