Leftists are celebrating the burning of a nearly 200-year-old mansion and iconic historic landmark in Louisiana because the building and the surrounding plantation was once owned by a slaveholder.

Shocking video shows the fire roaring through the Nottoway Plantation, a 53,000-square-foot mansion in Iberville Parish, Louisiana.

The fire reportedly began around 2 a.m. Thursday morning, and the cause is currently under investigation. No one was injured, but the blaze leveled the building nearly to the ground, leaving nothing but ash and a few smoldering beams.

The mansion, known to be the largest plantation home remaining in America, was built in 1859 for John Hampden Randolph, a wealthy landowner and slaveholder who owned four sugar plantations in Louisiana. The home, located on the Mississippi River, was constructed by some of Randolph’s estimated 150 or so slaves. The building was considered an architectural marvel at the time of its construction, boasting more than an acre of floor space and including state-of-the-art amenities, such as a bathroom on each floor complete with flushing toilets and running water.

The historic building has been used as an inn and event venue since the early 2000s.

Despite its historical significance and stunning architecture, leftists were all too happy to see the iconic building go up in flames, citing the fact that it was built by enslaved people.

Weird. I’d think that burning all those people’s hard work to the ground would actually be an insult, but maybe that’s just me and my lack of a victimhood complex talking.
