A Nevada judge got a little more than she bargained for this week when she was attacked by a violent felon in her own courtroom during a hearing.

Courtroom video caught the shocking moment when the defendant, Deobra Redden, literally dove headlong over Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus' bench and assaulted her after it became clear he was about to be sentenced to prison time. Holthus can be seen reeling back from her chair and hitting her head on the wall as Holthus' law clerk and several officers grabbed for Redden, who'd managed to make it clear across the bench and had grabbed ahold of Holthus' hair.

The judge suffered minor injuries, but was not hospitalized. One courtroom marshal suffered a gash to the forehead ad a dosclocated shoulder and was transported to a hospital, while Holthus' law clerk was treated for lacerations to his hands.

Redden, who was in court on felony battery charges and has a history of violent felony convictions, is scheduled to face Holthus again for a rescheduled sentencing on Monday - and I'm guessing this little stint in the courtroom isn't going to earn him any mercy. He's been jailed on $54,000 bond following the attack and now faces 13 new charges including extortion, coercion with force, and seven counts of battery on a protected person.

As for Holthus, she returned to work on Thursday, and says she's grateful for all the prayers and well-wishes during her recovery.
