You know that creepy statue to a demon goat the Satanic Temple set up in the Iowa statehouse to be a bunch of a-holes at Christmastime? Turns out someone chopped its head off and chucked it in the garbage. Which, frankly, is exactly where this abominable piece of trash belongs.

And just like that, suddenly, destroying statues on public property matters again.

Michael Cassidy, 35, a Christian and formerly military officer, tore down the Satanic Temple’s display of Baphomet, complete with a goat skull adorned in mirrors and decked out with a red cloak. He then flipped over the altar that had been set up in front of the statue before turning himself over to police, who arrested him and charged him with 4th-degree criminal mischief.

The Satanic Temple, known for antics like this one, had intentionally erected the bizarre monstrosity to declare their right to "religious freedom" alongside faith-based holiday displays at the statehouse including a Nativity scene, a Christmas tree, and a Hanukkah menorah.

Following his arrest, Cassidy, who had unsuccessfully run for congressional office in 2022, posted the Bible verse 1 Peter 5:8 to social media, which reads, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

“The world may tell Christians to submissively accept the legitimization of Satan, but none of the founders would have considered government sanction of Satanic altars inside Capitol buildings as protected by the First Amendment,” Cassidy later told The Sentinel in a statement. “Anti-Christian values have steadily been mainstreamed more and more in recent decades, and Christians have largely acted like the proverbial frog in the boiling pot of water.”

"I saw this blasphemous statue and was outraged,” he added “My conscience is held captive to the word of God, not to bureaucratic decree. And so I acted.”

The Satanic Temple has said it will be pressing charges against Cassidy, writing in a post on their own social media accounts that the display was vandalized “beyond repair.”

"We ask that for safety, visitors travel together and use the 7 Tenets as a reminder for empathy, in the knowledge that justice is being pursued the correct way, through legal means," the group wrote. "Happy Holidays! Hail Satan!”

Now, normally I’d be the one saying that vandalism is never a good response to something that one doesn’t like, even if it’s offensive. Then again, in recent years I’ve watched as Black Lives Matter thugs were given free reign to rip down statues, monuments, historical markers, and plenty of public property and no one batted an eyelash - in fact, leftists politicians were more than happy to lend a hand. Antifa nut jobs have wrecked police stations to the point of burning them down, while “Free Palestine” terrorism supporters have painted antisemitic garbage and swastikas on buildings to intimidate the Jews.

So forgive me if I don’t have heartburn over a Christian flipping over a tribute to Satan intentionally set up to flip the bird to Christ on his birthday.
