Things have gotten so bad in the Big Apple, even Mayor Eric Adams’ own advisor is calling on President Joe Biden to close the border.
Ingrid Lewis-Martin, a black woman and Adams’ chief advisor, demanded the federal government “do its job” and shut down the border during an interview on PIX 11 Sunday morning.
“The federal government needs to do its job,” she said. “We need the federal government, the Congress members, the Senate, and the president to do its job: Close the borders.
“And until you close the borders, you need to come up with a full-on decompression strategy where you can take all of our migrants and move them throughout our 50 states," she added.

Border agents reported a shocking 210,000 illegal alien apprehensions at the Southwest U.S. border in September, up by roughly 30,000 from the 181,000 they caught in August. September’s stunning report brings the total number of illegals caught in FY2023 - which ended Sept. 30 - to more than 2.4 million, setting a new annual record and marking only the second time in recorded history that illegal alien apprehensions have topped 2 million in a given fiscal year. Tens of thousands of those migrants have been funneled into New York City, where officials estimate it will cost upwards of $12 billion over the next three years to house and support illegal aliens who've maxed out the city's shelters, strained resources, and even forced the city's homeless and elderly out of state-run facilities to make room for border crossers.

But while closing the border to illegal immigration might make sense to anyone with two eyes and a functioning cranium, it’s not a good look for an advisor to a Democrat mayor in a deeply blue city to be calling for common sense border security. Shortly after the interview aired, NYC Deputy Mayor for Communications Fabien Levy tried to walk back Lewis-Martin’s statement, insisting that Mayor Adams still believes immigrants should be welcomed at the border, but that a “decompression strategy” is necessary to keep from overwhelming cities.
Translation? “Send in the illegals, because that's our party line - just put them anywhere but here.”
Lewis-Martin’s solution makes a lot more sense - however irritating to leftists it might be. Just don't expect most of them to admit it.
