The city of El Paso, Texas, has ended a nearly three-year state of emergency over illegal immigration, as the once-wave of so-called “migrants” flooding into the city has slowed to a nearly non-existent trickle.

The El Paso Times reports that the emergency ordinance, which had been put in place on 2022 during the Biden administration due to an unmanageable flood of illegal immigration, had been continually re-upped during city council meetings as recently as January 7 of this year. The ordinance was put in place as thousands of illegal aliens were being allowed to cross unimpeded into the United State, overwhelming city resources, maxing out city shelters, filling local hotels to the point of no vacancy, and pushing both the city and local NGOs to the brink of their financial ability to support the homeless, hungry migrants.

However, the option to continue the ordinance wasn’t even included on the February agenda, after illegal border crossings all by stopped following President Donald Trumps inauguration on January 20.

"We have not had the need to renew it," City Rep. Chris Canales of District 8 told the outlet. "There is currently no more emergency ordinance.”

The White House reported that in March, Border Patrol encountered just 7,181 illegal immigrants at the southern border, a 95% decrease from 2024 (137,473), a 96% decrease from 2023 (163,672), and a 97% decrease from 2022 (211,181).
